How to Make Planner Dividers

I've had my purple day runner planner for quite some time and recently decided that it needed some new dividers. Now being a person who frequents the Target Dollar Spot a lot, I have a stockpile of miscellaneous stationery supplies that are just waiting to be used and what does a DIYer do with said supplies? Make something of course. If you would like to know how I made the adorable planner dividers below, just continue reading.

MATERIALS
decorative file folders, ruler (the one that comes with your planner), pencil, handheld single hole punch and a paper trimmer

STEPS

1) Flatten the file folder out and using the paper trimmer divide into equal halves.

2) This is how the file folder will look when cut in half. Now take the half of the folder without the tab and divide into equal halves.

3) This is how the non tabbed half of the file folder will look when cut in half. The measurements should be around 5.5" x 8.5".

4) Gather the 5.5" x 8.5" piece of file folder, your pencil and ruler.

5) Flip the file folder over to the non decorative side and align the ruler to one edge of the file folder.

6) Trace the holes of the ruler onto the file folder. The circles are there though they are faint on the photo. ASIDE: This is why you use the ruler that comes with the planner. It already has the appropriate holes on it and fits the planner perfectly so it is the right tool for marking the holes correctly on the dividers.

7) Using the handheld single hole punch, punch out the outlined holes from step 5.

8) This was a close up of the hole I was punching.

9) One finished divider with all holes punched out.

10) Repeat this process for the number of dividers you need for your planner.
