How to Make Foam Board Letters

I was redecorating the nightstand in my bedroom and thought that a letter for my first name would go perfect in that one spot. You know, the spot that you just think "If I only had this it would be perfect". Well after looking at several stores and online I just didn't see anything I really liked or wanted to pay the price for -- plus another downside the majority of the letters that I did like were capital letters and I wanted some lower case so I decided to just make my own letter out of foam board. If you like to know how to make a letter of your own, just continue reading.

Materials needed for this project include:  foam board, tracing/stencil of letter of choice, pencil, tracing tool, x-acto knife and rubber cement

STEPS

Draw or print an outline of your letter of choice in the size and style you want. Transfer outline of letter to foam board with tracing utensil four times. Use x-acto knife to cut out letters four times. Glue letters together with rubber cement. Once dry, decorate or not.

UPDATE

I accidently drop something on my letter and because this is made out of foam board it easily dented. Well this just won't do for a decor item so I decided to decoupage the letter with pieces of white tissue paper. BONUS: once the glue dried this thing was as solid as a rock, no more dents for sure. Plus I'm really loving the texture of it.

Until next time, allow inspiration to find you!
