Mixed Media Nature Art (Natural Beauty)

To honor Earth Day, I have decided to share some mixed media art that I recently created using some of the techniques from the Carmen Torbus book that I finished reading a few days ago.

I created these pieces using a collage method on 12x12 canvases. I first decoupaged pieces of newspaper on the blank canvases. Then I painted the newspaper with white acrylic paint and let it dry. Once the white paint was dry I lightly brushed the canvas with yellow, red and blue acrylic paint. I let these colors dry and then applied the birds on tree limbs silhouettes with decoupage glue. Bird silhouettes were drawn and cut from gold scrapbook paper. Lastly, I added the red sticker letters for a pop of color and sealed the entire canvas with a sealant. This was a fun project to do although it can get a tad bit messy with applying the glue but fun nonetheless. Until next time, allow inspiration to find you!
