Butterfly Cross-Stitch Art (Update)
So after pondering and pondering some more on a fabulous way to frame this piece I just kept drawing a blank. Silly me, I cut it down to a 10x10 square and guess what ... every framing section I could find had every size of frame except for 10x10. So at this point I'm kicking myself for having cut it down to this size then it dawns on me ... make it into a decorative pillow!
I had this old pillow cover that my dog slightly chewed the corners of when he was going through his teething phase so I decided I would use it.
To make this adorable pillow I just took my old brown pillow cover and cut open three of the sides leaving the zipper part intact. Spread the pillow cover out evenly on a flat surface (pulley for zipper should be facing up). Now situate needlework face side down on pillow cover (zipper pulley and finished side of needlework facing each other). Pin into place and remove any excess fabric from the pillow cover, leaving about half an inch of pillow cover fabric around the entire needlework piece. Remember to leave the entire zipper part of pillow cover intact. Sew pieces together using holes in cross stitch as a guide - I did this twice for added security. Flip piece inside out through zipper in the back. Now stuff with stuffing of choice.
Voila! Now you have a one of a kind cross-stitch pillow.
Until next time, let inspiration in!
