Sweet Treat: Secret Almond Cookies
Secret Almond Cookies
yields about 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
36 Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolates with almonds
1 cup baking butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 large egg, beaten
1 large egg, beaten
1 ¼ cups finely chopped almonds
½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
Powdered sugar
Directions
1) Heat over to 375 degrees and remove wrappers from chocolates.
2) Cream together the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla in large bowl until fluffy.
3) Add egg, flour, almonds and almond extract (optional) and beat on low speed of mixer until well blended.
4) Using about 1 tablespoon of dough for each cookie, shape dough around each chocolate piece. Roll in hand to make ball making sure to cover each chocolate piece completely.
5) Place cookie dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
6) Repeat steps 4-5 until all chocolates have been covered with dough.
7) Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set but not browned.
8) Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet and place on wire rack.
9) While cookies are still slightly warm, roll the in the powdered sugar then let cool completely.
10) Roll again in powdered sugar just before serving.
11) Serve and enjoy!
FYI: Cookies can be stored in a tightly covered container.
