Project Idea: 3D Heart Envelope

I recently had some lamination done at the local UPS store and they placed my items in this nicely sized envelope. Now being the type of person who loves storage items, I just couldn't throw this envelope away once I got home but I also couldn't leave it the way it was with the UPS logo and writing galore on it. So what does a person like myself do? Revamp the envelope of course. If you would like to see how I made the beautiful 3D heart envelope below, just continue reading.

MATERIALS

(pictured) UPS envelope, box of rhinestones, spray adhesive, E6000 glue, scissors and pencil
(not pictured) 2 sheets of 18"x24" craft paper and clear tape

STEPS

Step 1: Take your UPS envelope and place it seal side up on a table.

Step 2: Begin to deconstruct the envelope by opening the seams on the sides.

Step 3: Place one piece of 18"x24" craft paper on a flat surface and using the spray adhesive attach the sheet to the printed side of the envelope. Be sure to smooth out the paper on the envelope and repeat the same process for the second sheet of 18"x24" craft paper.

Step 4: Fold the excess paper round the envelope in half before folding over the edges of the envelope and tape into place. I was quite generous with the tape on this part.

Step 5: Fold the envelope into it's original shape and glue seams back down with E6000 glue. Let dry overnight. To make sure the seams wouldn't pop open I secured them into place with mini clamps. If you don't have any clamps available you can just get two heavy books or flat weights and place them on top of the seams to keep them in place.

Step 6: This is how the envelope should look once the E6000 glue has set.

Step 7: Flip the envelope right side up and lightly draw your heart design on the front of the envelope.

Step 8: Glue your heart rhinestones into place on top of the light drawing you just made using the E6000 glue.

Step 9: This is your finished project, ready for use, once all the glue has dried.
