Project Idea: Duck Taped iPhone Cord

I love apple products but it seems like no matter how careful you are with the charging cables after a year they just seem to start falling apart? Then when you go to get a replacement cable, it only works for a month or two before you start receiving messages like "this accessory may not be supported" or "this cable accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone". UGH!!!! Well to curtail this issue when I start to see my cable bunching, which will only lead to the inevitable splitting, I nip it in the butt. How do I do this you are wondering? By using duck tape of course.

This project is quite simple albeit a bit time consuming but I absolutely loved the results. The only materials you will need for this project are scissors, an iPhone cord and duck tape (color and style of your liking). I decided to use this zebra print duck tape I had on hand. Starting at one end of my cord, I just cut 1/4" strips of duck tape and wrapped around the cord. To make sure the pieces bonded together I just slightly overlapped  the next piece of duck tape with the one previously wrapped around the cord. When you are done, you will have something similar to the picture above.

FYI: If your cord has already started to split just wrap the area with some electrical tape before wrapping with duck tape. Safety first!

Until next time, let inspiration find you!
