How to Make an Upright Earring Display for Photography

Lately, I have been working on my jewelry photography and unfortunately I have run into the issue of not being able to photograph a pair of earrings on my mannequin on several occasions. Well to remedy this situation I decided to create an upright earring display and you'll never believe the materials I used to achieve this.

Materials needed: foam board, poster board, ruler, pencil, embossing/ tracing tool, x-acto knife, earring display card and a spray adhesive

STEPS

1) Taking your foam board and poster board, measure out the size of the display board you wish to create and then using your x-acto knife cut these two boards down to size. My board measured 20” long and 12” wide.
2) Glue the two boards together with spray adhesive. Let dry/ bond.
3) You should now have something similar to this image.
4) Using the earring display card as a guide, position it in the area/ location you wish to create the earring holes for display.
5) Once this position is located push the embossing/tracing tool through the hole in the earring display making sure you go completely through the poster and foam boards – repeat this step for the second hole on the display card.
6) You should now have something similar to this image.

And there you have it an upright earring display perfect for photography!

FYI: If you don’t have an earring display card available you can just use a ruler for steps 4 and 5. Most earring display cards typically have the holes spaced 1” or 1 ½” apart.

Below are some examples of how the earrings will look when they are hanging.

Until next time, let inspiration find you!
