Currently Reading: Abstracts 50 Inspirational Projects by Rolina van Vliet
I seriously enjoyed reading this book and got so much inspiration
from it. This book builds on two previous books, Painting Abstracts and The
Art of Abstract Painting. Granted I have not read either of the previous
books, the first 50 pages of the above book gives a nice recap of them. The aim
of this book is to show you how to see abstractly and create your own
ideas and concepts by gaining inspiration from various sources including your own feelings and emotions.
There are 50 main studies that range from conceptual compositions
to symbolic interpretations of real objects and accompanying each exercise are
5 sections that provide study tasks, materials, picture elements, technique and
composition details. The author also gives steps for how to begin and finish
each exercise with beautiful examples for you to view as well as study tips.
This book concludes with comments by the author on additional sources of
inspiration as well as a list of dos and don’ts.
This book is full of inspiration and really forces you to look
within and bring your talents forth.
Until next time, allow inspiration to find you!
