Repurposed Rhinestone Buttons (How to Make Earrings from Buttons)
When the seasons change, I always go through my closet and clean out pieces that I haven't worn in 6 months and probably just some pieces that I never want to wear again. While going through this process I stumbled upon this jacket I had with these cute rhinestone buttons. Now the jacket was not of great quality and not fit for donation in my opinion so I decided to remove the buttons and create these earrings:
If you would like to know how I created this earrings, just continue reading.
Materials needed for this project include: two metal buttons with loops, metal clippers, metal file, two flat posts with clutches and strong bonding glue
STEPS
1) Remove your buttons from the article of clothing or packaging if you've chose to buy new buttons
2) Using your metal clippers remove the loop on the back of the buttons. Try to cut as close to the back of the button as possible
3) This is how your buttons should look with loops removed
4) Using your metal file, file down the rough edges left from the metal clippers
5) Grab one of the flat posts and see if it is as flushed as possible with the back of the buttons. If not, continue filing until it is
6) Grab your strong adhesive
7) Place a dap of adhesive onto the back of the metal button
8) Center the flat post over the adhesive and press post firmly into place. Let dry
9) Repeat steps 7 and 8 for the second earring. Now you have a finished pair of button earrings.
